Presented by Mobile United and hosted by community partners, the MLK Day of Service brings together members of the community to make a change in our environment. This event is open to the public, and we encourage everyone to come out and serve their community on this memorable day.
The MLK Day of Service is a community cleanup at Three Mile Creek. We will gather litter and debris from our waterways and surrounding areas to provide a cleaner community for all. We are looking for dedicated members of the community that want to help bring about change and provide our area with clean air, clean water, and healthy communities.
This event will take place at 3 locations, One Mile Creek, Three Mile Creek, and Eslava Creek. One Mile Creek and Three Mile Creek will meet at Tricentennial Park at 8:30am. The Eslava Creek location will meet at the Walmart at I65 and Dauphin Street at 8:30am.
This is an outdoor event and volunteers should expect cold weather and dress accordingly (long-sleeve clothing, waders, boots, etc). All cleanup supplies (pickers , gloves, vests) will be provided at the event. We do, however, encourage everyone to bring their own canoes and kayaks for the One Mile Creek site if you have one. All children under the age of 12 must bring a life jacket if they plan on going in the water.
This event will have guest speakers and a provided lunch from Dew Drop Inn at 11:00AM.
We look forward to seeing you there!
