Who We Are

Light of the Village is a front-line, hands-on Christian ministry designed to share Christ’s message of faith, hope, and love with the inner city one person at a time in word and deed and in truth and love.

The Light of the Village Ministry is located inside one of the most impoverished and violent neighborhoods in the southeastern United States. Our community is plagued with poverty, crime, violence, and drugs; however, in Christ there is hope!

In 2001, a "crack house" was transformed by Christ into a place of Christian faith, hope, and love. We are a front-line, hands-on ministry that serves inside this community  year-round offering a variety of programs. This consistent outreach is where genuine relationships are built, and Christ can be shared one person at a time.

What We Do

For safety reasons, please contact us before coming out to visit or volunteer for the first time.  We want to know to expect you!

Light of the Village has been referred to by our kids as “God’s house and our home,” a place where God is honored and kids can just be kids. Though LOV is now one ministry serving in multiple locations across Mobile and Prichard, the heart of the ministry remains the same: to build consistent relationships with children, teens, and adults for the sake of sharing the Gospel. Our programs allow us to reach individuals where they are. Many of these programs are listed below. For a full calendar of programs, visit lightofthevillage.org/events-1

After School Programming: At our three after school program locations, students receive help with homework, reading intervention, a snack or meal, a Bible study, and enjoy games, music and other activities all in a loving, nurturing environment.

Teen ProgrammingTeen Night is our weekly Bible study and worship time with our teens. Many of these students also serve with us on our candle making crew and as Teen Leaders working with our After School Programs and Summer Bible Camps.

Adult & Family Programming: We maintain our connections with the adults and elderly of our community through Sunday Bible Study and our weekly Community Lunch. We also host a weekly Ladies’ Night with fun, food and fellowship for the ladies of our community.
