Volunteer: Mobile Area: Drive cancer patients to and from treatment

Help cancer patients get to life-saving treatment. The best treatment won’t work if a patient can’t get there.

 

As a Road To Recovery volunteer driver with the American Cancer Society, you’ll use your personal vehicle to provide free rides for cancer patients who have no other way to get to their appointments.

 

Most rides are Monday–Friday during the day. You choose the rides that fit your schedule. Volunteers are encouraged to provide 1-2 rides per month.


Volunteer drivers must:

Be age 18–84 Have a valid driver’s license and safe driving record Use a reliable, insured vehicle Pass background and motor vehicle records checks Complete online training and use our online ride scheduling tool

ACS CARES™ (Community Access to Resources, Education, and Support) is a multi-channel program designed to provide non-clinical navigation support to cancer patients and caregivers. Through in-person student volunteers and virtual community volunteers, CARES volunteers equip those facing cancer with curated content, programs, and services to fit their specific cancer journey.

College/graduate students volunteer at USA Mitchell Cancer Institute to provide people with cancer and caregivers with empathetic, culturally sensitive and inclusive non-clinical navigation support throughout the cancer journey.
