Ronald McDonald House of Mobile is a non-profit charity whose mission is to provide essential services that remove barriers, strengthen families, and promote healing when children need healthcare. The two Family Rooms are an extension of the House. Rooms of peaceful respite located inside USA Health Children’s and Women’s Hospital. All family members of hospitalized children utilize the many amenities such as private shower, laundry facilities, snacks and a place to rest.

Development and Marketing Internship at the House
This individual will work under the direction of the Development Director and the Marketing Manager.

SUMMARY
The Development & Marketing Intern will assist with all aspects of fundraising, events, community engagement and marketing to increase funding and raise awareness of our mission and programs.

DUTIES
Identity relevant social and cultural trends and moments that align with Ronald McDonald House as a brand.
· Create visual assets for social media
· Assist at events with capturing video and photography
· Assist with McDonald’s visits to promote the Round-Up program
· Participate in tailgate activities to promote Round-Up and RMH of Mobile events
· Assist before, during and after fundraising events
· Grant writing
· General office duties including mailings and distribution of print marketing materials to local businesses and sponsors

REQUIREMENTS
· Familiarity with Canva and other editing tools
· Excellent writing skills

Program and Family Services Internship at the House - This individual will work under the direction of the Assistant Director and Family Services Coordinator

· Complete House Operations training with Assistant Director, including, but not limited to do room inspections, maintenance, future analysis, volunteer program, meal program etc.
· Complete training with Family Services Coordinator on all daily duties including,  check-in’s and check out’s, communicating with the hospital, referrals, family resources. Coordinate cleaning and organizing, the transportation program, troubleshoot family matters, general office work. Prepare for and conduct family meetings as needed, organize data, high school ambassador program.

Family Room Internship located inside Children's & Women's Hospital

· Train with the Family Room Coordinator on every aspect of the program.
Coordinating volunteers, Family Registry, office work, data analysis, cleaning, organizing, Happy Wheels Cart, Coffee Cart, laundry, food and drinks, etc.

Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are an extension of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mobile, Alabama, a bit of home within the walls of USA Children’s and Women’s Hospital.

The Family Rooms are located on the 3rd and 4th floors in the pediatric tower, and serve as a place of peaceful respite, possess a warm and friendly atmosphere for families to use while remaining merely steps away from their child’s bedside. 

We enthusiastically welcome individuals of all backgrounds and abilities.  

RONALD MCDONALD FAMILY ROOM VOLUNTEER DUTIES 

RMH Mobile relies on donations of household items and supplies to provide the comforts of home to our families in our 38 guestroom Home and our two-Family Rooms located inside USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital. Your donations help make their stay more comfortable so they can focus on their hospitalized child. Next time you are out shopping for items for your own home, we would be grateful if you picked up a few things for us, too. You can also host a donation drive for the House and collect wish list items at your office, church, school or with a community group. Go to www.rmhcmobile.org for an updated list.

Individual volunteer opportunity...

Prep the kitchen for family meal volunteer groups. Unload all dishwashers, sanitize all surfaces, greet groups, explain the kitchen process and locate items needed. Troubleshoot any questions, assist in any way needed. No group? Warm and set up take-out or provided meal. During downtime, re-stock pantry, sanitizing dining room etc.

Collect pull tabs from aluminum cans and donate them to Ronald McDonald House. The program raises approximately $2 – $4 thousand dollars each year and goes toward the operating costs of Ronald McDonald House Mobile. Large and small Houses as well as stickers for your own containers are available. Call 251-694-6873 for more details.

Become a part of something special and help “The House That Love Built”!

We are looking for a self-starter with painting, some sheet rock, carpentry, plumbing and basic electrical skills who is willing to donate a few hours a week.  Some tools a plus, shifts are flexible.

Coming home from the hospital for a freshly prepared meal, made by people who care is a real gift to our families.

This program is for groups of up to 12 volunteers. The time commitment is 2–4 hours. Consider breaking large groups into several smaller groups. Plan to cook for 45-50 people and prepare the meal in our RMH kitchen. Food prepared in commercial cooking establishments such as restaurants, catering services or cafeterias and then brought in or delivered is acceptable as well. To provide a family meal for the guests at Ronald McDonald House, consider the following:

• Gather funds from your church community, co-workers, civic organizations, friends and family members to purchase a meal.  Donate these funds to Ronald McDonald House with instructions to be used for a Family Meal and our staff will order meals on your behalf for our families or YOU CAN use the funds to order catered, individually boxed meals from a local restaurant and have them delivered to Ronald McDonald House.

• Do you have access to a commercial kitchen? Become a member of our casserole club...
This club will help our house by providing freezer ready meals which will be warmed and served to our families as needed when restaurant catered meals are not available.

Be a part of "The House that Love Built" as an in-house volunteer.

Other duties include... Assist with all aspects of House Operations to include but not limited to:

Volunteers are required to complete a health screening bi-weekly before entering the house for your volunteer shift.

Be the first person our families meet as they enter "The House that Love Built".

RECEPTIONIST  Monday-Friday  4:30PM-8:00PM  (Hours can be flexible and you can volunteer one day a week or as many as you would like).

Responsibilities to include answering phone calls and directing callers to the correct guest room or staff member, answering the doorbell (our house is under a secure system for entry), checking to make sure that anyone entering our house has the correct wrist band upon entry and if not, directing them to the house manager for information regarding how to become a guest.  Light clerical work during slow periods and assisting staff with small projects such as addressing and mailing envelopes or stuffing our "goodie bags" to be given to our new families upon check-in.
